We've just been talking to our contact in O2 so here's the skinny on how the iPhone is going to be available on the 11th July, and the different way those with existing iPhones are going to get theirs....

A couple of big bits of information also came our way for upgraders.  Firstly you won't be queuing on launch day.  You'll receive your new iPhone 3G in the post!  This all happens by registering an interest on the O2 site and we're reliably informed that by tomorrow or the next day you'll have an email with all the details!

Interestingly our O2 contact told us that you'll receive a "Jail Break Code" for your old phone allowing it to accept any SIM card.

We've also heard that only Black 16GB iPhones will be available at launch (not only white as we'd previously heard).

UPDATE 03/07/08 - O2 now saying upgrade customers will receive their email on the 9th July.  They are also now saying upgraders will be able to arrange a new handset either over the web, over the phone AND in-store.
